Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla, the worlds top-selling car, has been sold in America since 1968. Toyota was launching an all-new Corolla in 2014 and asked Saatchi LA to create a commercial that celebrated their history while demonstrating they have something special to offer in the new model. I was specifically responsible for all creative aspects of the broadcast production portion of the North American campaign.

With the 2014 Corolla the design, technology, and style were all elevated, and we were challenged to communicate that fact. Directed by Andreas Nilsson, and edited by Geoff Hounsell, we take a walk down memory lane where we see the Toyota Corolla, and pop culture references from past eras. Music, dance, wardrobe, set design, styling, film-stock; nothing was overlooked in our quest for authenticity.

This video went viral on YouTube receiving over a million views, organically in under two days.

The highest rated (in recall and recognition) commercial Toyota had produced in years.

Jay Leno parodied the commercial in a sketch for his Tonight Show audience.

Sales of the Toyota Corolla exceeded all goals moving 12% more units then the previous year.
